About Me

Mrs. Muneeba Ahmad
ELD Teacher, Riffenburgh Elementary School

I am honored to serve as the ELD (English Language Development) teacher at Riffenburgh Elementary. Originally from Pakistan, I moved to the United States as a teenager and spent much of my time in Richmond, Virginia, where I raised two daughters who participated in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. My older daughter is currently a first-year dermatology resident at Virginia Commonwealth University, and my younger daughter is an MIT graduate working as an engineer. My husband, a global energy expert with a Ph.D. in engineering from Georgia Tech, has worked internationally, which allowed me the privilege of traveling and gaining a deeper understanding of diverse cultures and global education systems. My passion for the IB program and its rigorous academic standards is deeply rooted in these experiences.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Education from Lesley University, as well as a post-graduate certification in education from the University of Nottingham, UK. Additionally, I am licensed in ELD/ESL (English as a Second Language) instruction and bring over 12 years of experience working in leading public schools and elite international institutions.

A strong advocate for the power of reading, I have always emphasized its importance both as a parent and as an educator. One of the books that profoundly influenced me is The Well-Trained Mind, which shaped my approach to nurturing curiosity and a lifelong love of learning in children. I believe that reading is the cornerstone of academic success and personal growth, which is why fostering strong literacy skills is central to my teaching philosophy.

At Riffenburgh, I am excited to continue contributing to the International Baccalaureate culture, which emphasizes inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and global-mindedness. I look forward to collaborating with our students, parents, and fellow educators as we work together to ensure that each child reaches their full potential in both language development and academic achievement.
