Working Together to Achieve Educational Excellence

Riffenburgh Elementary has operated as a neighborhood school for over fifty years, and in that time, we have formed and maintained generations of positive and nurturing relationships.

We actively work to create a culture of inclusion by honoring and exploring perspectives through open communication with our entire Learning Community.  Our teachers and staff prioritize relationships with students, families, and each other to create collaborative, supportive, and engaging learning environments.  Our collective efficacy models our commitment to learner agency, which applies to every community member.

Riffenburgh Elementary School is located in the south-central/east area of Fort Collins on the Front Range of the beautiful Rocky Mountains. It was named in honor of Waldo Riffenburgh, who served as a member and president of the Fort Collins Board of Education for eighteen years. The school occupies what was once part of Ed and Cora Johnson's farm. It adjoins Edora Park, which was named to honor Ed and Cora.

Riffenburgh is recognized throughout the neighborhood as a rich learning environment. We have a strong history of sound academic excellence and strive to continue that excellence through sustainable learning to meet state standards.

Our Riffenburgh staff is well-trained and recognized for their dedication and expertise. Many of our staff members have master's degrees. We have a commitment to meeting the diverse needs of our students. This includes the use of technology, hands-on activities, and enrichment. We have numerous student activities both within the context of the regular school day and as after-school activities. The activities to affect change through the Exhibition, various clubs, and community member-directed activities such as Tales for Paws and Storyteller help to offer connection within our Learning Community.

Decision-making at Riffenburgh has several components. Staff, parents, and community members are involved either through our Leadership Teams, our PTO, or our School Accountability Team. All entities meet regularly.  We are fortunate to have parents, community members, and teachers who are eager and excited to be an integral part of planning and implementing curriculum and school business.

We are committed to this statement: "The Riffenburgh Community...working together to achieve educational excellence." We invite you to visit our school and watch as we put our words into action. We hope this is the place you will want your children to be.
