Welcome to Riffenburgh! I'm Kristen Zuieback and this is my 3rd year teaching first grade. I'm also a busy mom of three kids (Max 13, Sydney 10, and Liam 6). I know all too well the challenges of being a parent with a busy schedule. My classroom is designed so that students learn through movement. I'm also an Occupational Therapist and believe in the power of body to brain. Our classroom is fun, positive and rarely static. Outside of teaching I love to hike and spend time with my kids in the mountains. I love soccer although I have two blown out knees and no longer play very often. Ft. Collins is a wonderful place to raise and educate kids.
I really love introducing new concepts. The enthusiasm of first graders is un-matched. They love being challenged and relating their own experiences to areas of learning. There really is nothing better then seeing the feeling of success spread across a child's face. We should never lose that enthusiasm.
I don't have any true favorite authors. I think there are amazing books for just about any theme or topic. I love offering a variety of books in my room.
I'm a true Colorado native. I grew up in Denver and went to CSU (Go Rams!). I loved this town so much that I decided to raise my kids here.
At this point in my life I'd say my hobbies and interests are in my kids. I love watching my son play soccer, my daughter horseback ride, and seeing my youngest take up any sport he can swing at. As a family we enjoy hiking and spending time in the mountains. As a former soccer player I like to try and play a bit here and there as well. I love working out and I do my best to stay healthy.
My classroom is a fun and open-minded environment. Students do their best and encourage each other. I think my classroom focus changes as my kids mature throughout the year. We are always moving and keeping our bodies and minds working together.
